Having a baby is truly one of the best seasons of life. There is truly no love like the love you will feel the first time you see their precious little face, and that love only grows from there! Let’s be honest, there are so many things that you can put on your registry. I was a first time mom and I think I had well over 100 products listed on mine.

However, it can be pretty overwhelming sometimes when it comes to deciding what to put on your registry, ESPECIALLY as a new mom. Even more so when it comes to deciding which products you want to mark as a priority! In this article I will provide 13 essential products that I recommend to put on your registry that can help you save a lot of money. Let’s get into it shall we?

  1. Diapers and Wipes

This is probably one of the most important products that you are going to want to put on your registry. I recommend putting ALL sizes of diapers because your baby is not going to stay in NB or Size 1 for very long. We were gifted enough diapers that it lasted about the first 6-7 months for us. Even then I STILL had diapers that I sat out on the side of the road to give to another mom in need.

Your baby is going to grow faster than you realize, some even more than others. It’s important to include more than one size because it will save you SO much money in the long run if you have diapers that baby can grow into.

Looking for a diaper recommendation? We highly recommend Pampers Swaddlers! These are one of the ONLY diapers that we have found to truly absorb and not leak as well as catching any blowouts our daughter may have.

  1. Carseat & Stroller

If you can, I would recommend putting a carseat and stroller combo on your registry. I put both a carseat and a carseat/stroller combo on my registry and was gifted the carseat. We ended up having to buy the combo and it cost us about $400. If someone gives you the combo, you are definitely saving a lot of money there!

I highly HIGHLY recommend the Graco Snugride 35XL Carseat! It includes the newborn insert and is super safe for baby! The Graco Stroller also fits all Graco Car seat Models which makes it very convenient to use and it also has a great storage space underneath the stroller.

  1. Clothing Essentials

One of the main gifts you are going to get is baby clothes. Honestly, baby clothes are one of the funnest gifts to buy! However, I still recommend putting baby clothes on your registry so people can see the style you are going for as well as some of the products that they may not think about that baby really needs.

Some product recommendations are:

Onesies (shortsleeve, longsleeve)

Bibs

Sleepers

Socks

Mittens

Hats

Swaddles

Burpcloths

Sleepsacks

I highly recommend putting ALL sizes of clothes on your registry so baby can have clothes to grow into throughout their 1st year. This can also save some money because you aren’t having to shop and buy baby a ton of new clothes every time that they size up.

  1. Bassinet & Sheets

I recommend putting a bassinet in your registry. The first 3-4 months the baby is probably going to sleep in your room to make it easier for night feeds and monitoring. Bassinets can range from a couple hundred dollars to over a thousand depending on which one you want.

My daughter is over a year old and she still sleeps in our room! Of course every parent is different on what they prefer when baby makes the transition into their own room. Always remember that there is more than one right way, and just make sure that baby is safe. Of course, you are going to need sheets for your bassinet so I definitely recommend including those on your registry.

  1. Baby Carrier

As a newborn, your baby is going to want to be on you all the time. After all, you are their comfort and safe space! Having a light weight baby carrier is essential for being able to get things done around the house sometimes. It can also be of good use in public to help people refrain from trying to touch the baby if you are wearing them.

I recommend having one that has a little back support. I’ve never been able to wear my baby for long because I didn’t have a carrier that had good back support and I had back issues from labor.

I recommend using the Momcozy Baby Carrier. After reading the reviews, this is a lightweight carrier that offers support for BOTH mom and baby. This carrier is known to feel more secure and safe for baby, while also providing the comfort and lumbar support that Mom needs!

  1. Changing Pad & Covers

Having a good quality changing pad is a good product to include in your registry. Generally they aren’t very expensive, but they are convenient to use and make changing a little bit easier than bending over and hurting your back while trying to change them on the bed.

We actually did not use our changing pad the first couple of months. I changed her wherever she laid pretty much as it was much easier and convenient to do so. I also did not have a dresser for her the first few months, so I didn’t have a good place to put her changing pad. Once we did start using it, we never looked back! You’ll want a few different covers to go with your changing pad because things can happen while changing a baby that cause you to need a new cover.

I recommend using the Blissful Diary Changing Pad (cover included). A lot of moms like using the SkipHop Changing Pad, but I do not feel that having an expensive changing pad is necessary.

  1. Bathing Essentials

Bathing Essentials are so important to include on your registry! You are going to be bathing your baby from the time you bring them home until they can bathe themselves. There are several essentials for bathtime and these products are great to include in your registry as a cheaper, more affordable gift that is just as important.

Check out these bathroom essentials below:

> towels

> washcloths

> bodywash and shampoo

> lotion
> robe

  1. Newborn Essentials

You are definitely going to want to add newborn essentials to your registry. Thankfully, newborns really don’t need much and the products they do need are not very expensive. You aren’t going to feel like going to the store and you are definitely not going to want to take your newborn into a store. Having everything ready and prepared before baby arrives is the best way to go, if not, well Dad is in for a ride!

> Blankets

> Nasal Aspirator

  1. Nursing Pillow

A nursing pillow is a great addition to your registry because it’s another one of those products that aren’t super expensive, but also make a great baby shower gift that will be put to good use. A nursing pillow is great to have on-hand before baby is born because it can help with breastfeeding, especially when you are newly breastfeeding.

I recommend the Boppy Nursing Pillow. It really helped the beginning of my breastfeeding journey and gave me and my daughter the support we needed so she could get a good latch.

  1. Feeding Essentials

Feeding Essentials are a necessity right from the moment that baby is born. These products are also very affordable and you will also probably get several packs of bottles and other essentials as it is one of the most universally known products to gift at baby showers. Putting these products in your registry will help set you up with those products before baby is here, but it will also let your family and friends know what type and brand you are wanting for your child.

Feeding Essential Products include:

> Breastmilk Storage Bags
> Bottles

> Formula

> Breast Pump

> Breastfeeding Covers

> Burpcloths

  1. Baby Food Maker

Once your baby begins solids, making their food at home almost guarantees healthy ingredients for their meals as well as saving some money from constantly buying the baby food jars. You also know what ingredients you are putting into their meals unlike some of the preservatives included in certain baby food brands.

I recommend the Chef Handy Baby Food Maker! This set will not only steam baby’s food, but it will blend and puree as well!

Some other feeding products I recommend:

> Bowls
> Spoons and Silverware

> Plates

> Silicone Bibs (easy to wash!)

> Baby Food Jars

  1. High Chair

A high chair is a great product to include in your registry as it is one of the bigger items that you can check off your list. Prices can range depending on what brand and type of high chair that you want.

Check out this Convertible High Chair! This high chair will grow with your baby and it converts all the way into a booster seat once your toddler is able to sit at the table and eat.

  1. Health Essentials

Health Essentials are important to have on-hand before baby is born because you never know what can happen. Having a colicky baby is never a fun experience for you or baby, but having those gas drops on hand can help provide a little relief for you both! A lot of these products are also pretty inexpensive, but make great gifts at your baby shower.

Some products to include are:

> Diaper Cream

> Hair brush

> Cradle Cap Care

> Nasal Aspirator

> Thermometer

> Humidifier

> Little Remedies Newborn Gift Set

  1. Activity Mat and Toys

Having toys and an activity mat for your baby is so important for their sensory and development! I would recommend including a range of toys on your registry that would be good for newborns all the way to a year. Toys are pretty affordable gifts and your family is going to love getting them toys knowing that they get to contribute to the fun that your little one is going to have during playtime!

Some products I recommend:

> Black and White Cards (Newborn)

> Activity Mats

> Books

> Sensory Toys

> Montessori Toys

Really the type of toys and what you want for baby is completely up to you!

All in all, there are SO many products that you could include in your baby registry and it can definitely be overwhelming trying to decide what to put on there. Hopefully this blog post helped you in deciding a few products to put on the registry! Remember that baby isn’t going to need much during their first few weeks of life so if you don’t have everything, DON’T STRESS! It will be okay, and a lot of baby items are probably going to be purchased as baby grows.
